If you are medical professional you would have heard of HIPAA ( Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). Title II of HIPAA specifies provisions to address the security and privacy of health data.

The standards are meant to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the health care system by encouraging the widespread use of electronic data interchange while safeguarding private health data.

We at i-Script have taken several measures to fulfill this responsibility. A few of the steps we have put in place are outlined below :

 

Scriptase and 128 Bit Encryption

Scriptase our document delivery and management system utilizes 128 bit encryption to make all web connections. This standard, also called 128 bit SSL, is the same standard used for online banking and financial transactions.

What does 128 bit SSL mean?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer which is an Internet communication protocol. Simply put whenever you access your account with us, the data transmitted back and forth is encrypted in order to secure it.

 

Authentications

There are two methods of authentication we use to safeguard documents and dictations.

1. Each account with us is provided a unique Username and Password without which you cannot access the Scriptase system online.

2. Dictating staff are provided with individual access codes which are required in order to gain access to the dictation lines.

 

Policies

We have also implemented a number of administrative measures in our day to day work to ensure that no data concerning patients is disclosed to personnel who do not have permissions to view this information.
